We are in the process of migration Mainframe COBOL/IMS database to COBOL/Oracle. We will be connecting to Oracle instance outside of mainframe instead of IMS from the COBOL programs using ORACLE ACCESS MANAGER product for ZO/S,CICS
1.Is there are any performance degradation when a mainframe BATCH (COBOL) or CICS transaction is trying to connect to ORACLE in UNIX outside box.
2. Are there any performance bottleneck
3. Any benchmark studies that was done incomparison to mainframe cobol/vsam workload
4. What could be some of the forseeable challenges and tunings that we need to do apart from application.
5. Will network latency be significant or will the delay happen at ORACLE server
Any thoughts/ideas?
Thanks in advance |

Those questions should have been asked/answered before migrating. And what has Oracle to say about this? |
