hi,
we don't have File Aid here but we do have File Manager. I RTFM as much as I could handle but was unable to identify whether I can or cannot read a file with one copybook that has many lengths and record types. Do not recall what File Aid called that function but I used to use it alot with IMS.
So l read a record with character SP and the utility know it is supposed to map that to Sales Person. Next record could be SM, for sales manager, and I see a mapped out copybook for the sales manager.
I can work about this but I felt if I asked someone might know what File Manager calls this with respect to File Aid's function. |

File-AID uses an "XREF" (cross-reference) that refers to actual copybooks. File Manager uses a template that stores all information in an internal format. Version 12 allows the import of XML that includes multiple record formats; earlier versions do not. |
