Hi All,
I have 2 files with same records but in different orders. I sorted both the files and compared using 1 to 1 option. All records were matched.
But when I used Read ahead Option with Record count as 999 and Read-ahead sequence as I ( I - will look in both forward or Backward). This time, the comparison resulted some differences and threw the message
Quote: |
U329-READ AHEAD COUNT LIMIT WAS EXCEEDED BEFORE A MATCH WAS FOUND |
I just want to know, when using Read ahead Option with the sequence as I (Ignore), will it look both Forward and Backward for every record mismatch. I mean, A record in File1 is not matched with File2 record, will it search File2 in Forward direction till the count is 999 , then it will look in backward direction from the mismatched record till the count is 999?
or else, will it look one record forward and one record backward, then one record forward and one record backward, till a match is found?
In My case, the 47th record in File1 is present as 48th record in File2. But Still I got the error message and mismatch.
Please help me. |

Isn't this processing described in the manual? |

Whther you think the processing is not working as documented, or you think the processing is not working at all, you should be contacting the Compuware support group for assistance. They are MUCH more likely to be able to help you than anybody on this forum. |

@Bill Woodger
Thanks for your response.
I don't have the Manual. I read in Fileaid help.
Quote: |
I (Ignore) option can be used for Unsorted files. It will search forward or backward for the corresponding record. |
I found the above information only. |

This is the LAMEST excuse that is repeated, over and over, on this forum. If your site has a license for the software, then you have access to the manuals. The manuals may be in hardcopy at your site, or they may be in softcopy on an internal company web site, or you may have to sign up at the vendor using your vendor site id, but you have accerss to the manuals -- not using them is either ignorance or laziness. |

Hello,
Keep in mind that iognorance can be gotten over - as long as i've done this and as much as i've worked with, i'm still ignorant on very many "things"
Many people have no idea that they can (for free) get the material from the vendor for free (and few in their organizations will tell them). In most cases all it takes is registering on the vendor support site. As Robert mentioned, you will need the vendos site-id.
Suggest you download "your own" copy and store it on your hard drive or a flash drive. |
