I needed some help on using the COMPAREX tool from SERENA -- How and where Can I select the option so that I see the compare output in an alphanumeric format and not the default HEC format ? |

Hello,
What have you tried (show what you submitted)?
What happened (show a bit of the output)?
What do you want different? |

Here is what I am doing.
1) I am specifying the file names selecting the option 2
Code: |
0 - SHORT CUT - Single screen for options and dataset names (recommended)
1 - OPTIONS - Specify compare options for this session
2 - FILES - Specify file names to be compared
3 - SAVE - Save options profile for future sessions
4 - LOAD - Select/Delete options profile from prior session(s)
5 - CLEAR - Clear previously loaded profile
6 - FOREGROUND - Invoke SERENA COMPAREX in the foreground and wait
7 - BACKGROUND - Invoke SERENA COMPAREX as a submitted batch job
8 - BACKGROUND - Similar to above but edit job (and optionally SUBMIT)
9 - PARSE - Parse Copylib for keyword assistance
X - EXIT - Exit
|
Then I am running the comparex .. and getting the following output
Code: |
CPX21I - SYSUT1=E0421T.E0421STI.STIEXT.T121005 DCB=(DSORG=PS,RECFM=VB,
VOL=SER=TSBNFL
CPX22I - SYSUT2=E0421T.E0421STI.STIEXT.P121005 DCB=(DSORG=PS,RECFM=VB,
VOL=SER=TSBNBA
CPX25I - TEXT,MLC=10,BUFF=60
SERENA COMPAREX (MVS - 8.7.0 - 2012/111) IKJACCNT TUESDAY OCTOB
SYSUT1=E0421T.E0421STI.STIEXT.T121005,SYSUT2=E0421T.E0421STI.STIEXT.P121005

As you can see , the values are shown as HEX values ..I want them to be displayed as ALPHANUMERICS so that I can export them to a .txt file |

Hello,
My systems do not use comparex.
What does the Options selections offer?
As mentioned before, what does the manual say?
If you choose the option to run this in batch (background), you may find something in the control info to get what you want.
Or you could always ask Serena Support . . . |

I have only used COMPAREX in batch and by cloning another job - no panels - nothing. However, I would certainly look at Options. Unfortunately I was an idiot this last weekend (nothing unusual there!) and left my work pen drive at home so it is in the UK and I am in Ireland. Otherwise I could have looked at my COMPAREX jobs to see if I could spot anything useful. |
