Hi,
If a VSAM file is defined as Non-RLS option and the file is opened in CICS for Read-Only. (Upd & Add options disabled).
can these files be shared across AOR in a Sysplex environment?
Is it mandatory to have RLS=Yes for any file to share across AORs even though they are read-only?
Note:
No FOR in the system. all the files are to be shared in all the AORs.
appreciate your help. I had gone through lot of manuals but couldn't find exact info. I assume, RLS is mandatory if we need to share across no matter what access it is.
Thanks,
DJ |

Your non-RLS vsam file are read-only because your site has them defined that way. Your non-RLS vsam file could be share with multiple region thru MRO or APPC. If you do not have a FOR and you are not using RLS=yes then your files are local to the AOR that's using it. |

Dick,
We have done some testing now..and here is the result.
We don't need to define Read-Only files with RLS=YES. they can be defined as regualr files (RLS=NO). Only the files which are updatable must be defined with RLS=YES option and appropriate LOG parameter. |
