I'd also like some way to "appreciate" a useful reply, without having to add an extra post.

With the jokes, perhaps an "expiry date", you mark the response as a joke, then seven days after the last joke in the topic, they gracefully disappear. Might save some disgruntlement from posters if they know it is just in fun.

Unfortunately, it might encourage the incorrigble. I've now pasted then deleted the following "joke" three times. Better leave it that way. So now it is not following.

I'm sure there is a word, or expression, for using a word, or phrase, which renders a sentence accidently humourous. The bane of public speakers and proof-readers. And, no, I don't mean "double entendre", which is a pale simulacrum of the beast I seek.
