Hi folks,
I am using FMN to handle both VSAM files and DB2 recently.
Is there anyway that I can edit the VSAM file which is allocated to online.
Thanks |

if it were possible...
did You, Your support ever consider all the integrity exposures You are facing ?
technically it is possible, but, since we are professional here, nobody will advise on how to setup things in order to do it and clobber Your data |

Hi Enrico,
I used to do this in fileaid for specific reasons , the records I am handling is coming through MQ messaging service.Due to business reason I have to edit the file while it is allocated online once in a month.
Thanks for your time. |

Is this a production file? Who lets you just do that, whether on-line or off-line? If there is a requirement to update your production data, you need an application to do it, in as secure and auditable way as is done for the most basic of users (and all users). There is no routine "business reason" for editing any production data with any sort of tool.
If you are even occasionally editing production files, I hope you have sufficient signatures and a witness to CYA.
I don't know about heaven, but here on Earth audits would fail and company accounts be qualified for much less than this. |
