I have a need to read the JES output spool as input. I need to get the jobname, number and date from the header page and append it (along with the print output) onto an output file.

Have you tried the SEARCH button at the top of the page, this has been discussed many times.

Hello,

Suggest you look for topics that refer to using sdsf in batch. . .

Yet, you did not ask any questions, nor did you ask for help. If you don't tell us what you've done, what results you've gotten, and what you need help with -- exactly how are we supposed to read your mind and figure all that out? Today is not psychic day!

The mainframe uses IOF not SDSF.

I have a need to read the JES output spool as input to a batch job. I need to get the jobname, number and date from the header page and append it (along with the print output) onto an output file.

For those wanting to know what I tried, I've tried nothing since I don't know how to perform this process. That's why I came to this forum. Even a bad psychic could see that.

Well, opinions vary. . .

A very good psychic would most likely not have assumed IOF. . .

The non-psychics among us did see that you were looking for something. . .

The most important part of us being able to help is having enough information presented in the initial post. Unfortunately, the burden of presenting proper info is on the poster - who may still be learning how to ask questions.

Have you asked the software vendor what might already be available in the IOF product? If you haven't, that would be a good thing to do.

Mr. Faitful,

1) Do you realize the experts are having fun at your expense? That is life on the forums.

2) Do you realize how poorly lacking in important information your posts are?

For example, not until your last post was the information about IOF rather than SDSF mentioned. Hense the need for psyhsic day.

After that you simply repeated the same useless information from your first post in your last post. How do you expect that to help?

Why don't you give a SPECIFIC example of the JES output spool information you mention and how you would want the output to look?

Or is this something you expect everyone here to already know?

If you want help, then do a better job of asking for it.

JES output No. 2.

XXXX XXXX XXXX

Output file I'd like to create from these IOF files would have the banner page data concatenated onto the front of the Batch Report.

Oh Robert, I can't get to the bank before the 34th icon_cry.gif

And as for the original problem, I have never used IOF but as Dick has suggested, contact either the vendor or ask an authorised representitive to do it on your behalf. Usually a sysprog is the main contact with the S/W companies.
