I am having two similar kind of database one is of development and another is of production.
And they are out of synch, lots of data mismatches are there..
I have 2 ideas for that
1. unload those tables into flat files and compare through 3.12. But this is pretty lenghty
2. write query for each table
Is there any other way which we can do for the entire database?or some utility? |

Similar tables ? Or are they the same ?
Production tables are always leading, so get those production
tables into your development environment.
Why would one want to know the difference in data between
production and development? |

I do not worry about data difference between prod and dev. I just unload prod data and refresh dev tables whenever I need proper data. |

We don't have access to refresh I guess. Being a support team member, we just need to make one report of discrepancies.
So is there anyway of comparing these two as a whole? any utility for this? |

They are same, but some data needs to be different, as per requirement. |

Hi Peter,
the tool seems to give compare the definiton of Db2 objects,
is there a way it can be used to compare the data in the application tables. Say I have to compare the data between a prod and a parallel environment table.
thanks |

Hello,
Unload both. Use SPUERC to compare the unloaded data.
Keep n mind that if there is anything in the data that is related to current date and/or time, the compare will show this as a mis-match.
If you need a custom coparison, you will need to implement a custom process. |

We use IBM Optim (formerly PST), but it costs money.
It works great, and you can tell it to ignore timestamps during the compare.
I still do not understand why you would need to know or even care that production and test data is out of sync.
Even if you were to generate a report, by the time someone looked at it, it would be obsolete.
If a batch job or cics transaction ran against either set of data, the results of the report are inaccurate. What then?
This seams to me to be an excerise in futility. |
