SAP has been running on mainframes for many, many years -- in fact, if you Google SAP on IBM, the first web page states
Quote:
For over 35 years, IBM and SAP have consistently delivered superior ROI through thousands of successful implementations. Our global business and technology solutions can help you innovate, adapt and compete.

Hello,

Keep in mind that "Linus" is not as old as SAP. . .

35 years ago, Unix was 5 years old and mainframes were not Unix aware. SAP has been running under z/OS and its predecessors for all 35+ years.

The shortened term is usually used with the approval of the person involved.
