Hi All,
Can you please clarify the following.
I have a 5 level hier IMS database.
a.Qualifying the root , how can i get all the segments under that root using GN call.Do we need to mention all the SSAs in call to get these segments.
b.I have 4 segment types in level 2.Qualifying segment at level 1,how do we get 2 segment types in level 2 in a gn call. What r the ssas to be mentioned in call.
Please let me know your suggestions in this regard.
Regards,
Jonai. |

a) Go to the required root segment. Issue a GN call and compare the segment name that was retreived or segment level that the current segment has been retreived for every GN call. If segment level is 1 or segment name is the root segment, then all segments under the previous root segment has been retreived/read. Do not mention any SSA in the call. Segment name or segment level fields can be found in the PCB-MASK definition
b) Go to required root segment using a GU or GN call. Then issue a GNP call with an SSA of the required segment. two GNP calls with different SSA's would be required. |

Thanks for the reply Rajesh and Anuj.
Both the problems are resolved with GN calls with No SSA.
I tried it with Segment level capturing and processing.
Yes Anuj.
It is Hierarchical database with 5 levels.
Thanks all for your support.

Glad to hear that you've got he solution.
Please avoid using "short forms" -- not every body belongs to same envireonment where you work-in and on this board users log in from across globe. So better use those terms which are universly known, you may expect better and fast replies then.
Have a good one
