Hi All,

We are currently working on with a feasibility study on automating an application which is using UNIKIX 8.0.1 /COBOL.
It is basically a mainframe application maintained on a UNIX server.

We would like to know if this can be automated using QTP, ACCORD, etc...

Could you please give us some pointers on this?

Hello,

My brain is on slow today icon_confused.gif

If this is an online system (unikix), what might be automated? Startup, shutdown, etc?

When i was a unix sysadmin, we used cron for a few system support processes and CA-Unicenter to schedule application proceses.

I'm not familiar qith qtp or accord.

QTP is a Windows desktop application. It cannot be installed or executed on Unix OS.

If your requirement is to execute Unix commands and retrieve textual output (not to test a Linux applicaion GUI), then it is possible to connect to a Unix machine via a console or terminal emulator as users do in daily use.

You may raise this concern in AdvancedQTP Forums for better help.

Thanks a lot Anuj for the details.

Yeah, also got to know that QTP cannot be used with UNIKIX. You have also confirmed that.
