Hi,

In order to avoid this error again pls compress your PDS by using 'Z' command against the PDS name.

we will get that error if there is no available space in our ps.
normally we will get this when we are trying to save the changes to a ps after modifying it.

solution to this is compress your dataset

An SE37 along with accompanying RC tells you the approproate action to take. Specify atleast one more volume, alternate volume, or compress the datsets on that volume .

Hi,

This is Happens due to out of space when trying to save the changes. The dataset needs to be either by the utility IEBCOMPR or by placing the command Z against the dataset.

I think this can solve ur problem temporarly(U can save ur changes) and as discussed above u need to increase the space.

Cheers
Ashwin

Hi There,
For SE37 the very basic reason for this Caused by lack space of PDS(Partioned)

Remedy is you need to increase the space for the dataset and run the program again. if suppose ur dataset have somany ps in it. then try to compress the dataset using Z before the dataset or using IEBCOPY utility you can compress the dataset .

if dump comes on your screeen jsut come out of the log(spool) and go and give I before the dataset it gives stastical information about the dataset based on those you will take the decision.

I hope this answers your question , If anything wrong in my version please let me know .

shabir as you mentioned any dataset intially takes the primary space, onceits done it will go for secondary space (This allocation is based on some extends concept ,, iam not sure what extents is) even your dataset occpies morethan the secondary space then the job will fail with SE37 .in that case u need to compress the dataset using the above mentioned methods

once ypu get SE37...just try to compress the dataset....if after that also you get the same error...check if your shop provides one TSO utility named PDS....i think it's by CA...using this utility you can increase the size of PDS(only PDS..not PDSE) even if it is under use. There you need to give select option 'O' and then fix and then you can add track/cyl whet ever is was previuosly..you can add at most of 20% of previously amount. That can help you to get rid of this errorr.
