Elaborate in what way? Do you want to know what an autoinstall terminal is? Do you want to know how to write a program to handle autoinstall (which is what the second link CICS Guy pointed to gives you)? Is there some specific question you have about autoinstall terminals that you're not asking yet? |

From the CICS Customization Guide:
Quote: |
You use the DEFINE TERMINAL(..) and DEFINE TYPETERM(..) commands to define VTAM devices to CICS. These commands define the resource definitions in the CICS system definition file (CSD). Your definitions can specify that they can be used as models for autoinstall purposes. Defining and installing model resource definitions for terminal control enables CICS to create required entries in the terminal control table (TCT) automatically, whenever unknown devices request connection to CICS. A particular advantage of automatic installation (autoinstall) is that the resource occupies storage in the TCT only while it is connected to CICS and for a specified delay period after last use.
You use the autoinstall control program to select some of the data needed to automatically install your terminals--notably the CICS terminal name and the model name to be used in each instance. You can use the CICS-supplied autoinstall program, or extend it to suit your own purposes.
For an overview of autoinstall, see the CICS Resource Definition Guide. You should also read the sections in the same manual that describe the CEDA commands that create the environment in which your control program can work. |

You need to understand that reviewing the appropriate documentation is essential in understanding the fundamentals of your profession. We are not here to hold your hand and "tact" is everything.
The knowledge base of technicians on this board provide feedback/assistance for free and your demanding arrogance will only alienate you from others.
What would you think this type of "free advice" would cost?
In addition to the manual links at the top of the main page, here's the direct link to IBM Book Manager -
publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/library
It should be placed into your favorites and used whenever necessary.
Thank You,
Bill |

Did you bother to go to the provided links and attempt to learn anything? |

one is arrogant; those around him feel it.
The point Bill was making, and I shared, was
that it would be difficult to have read all the links and still not have an idea
what autoinstall would mean.
If you were indeed still clueless, should have said so. |
