I'm not familiar with "STRING ASSEMBLER language", but if you are interested in an Assembler macro called STRING, you can read about it here.

So, if not the STRING macro.... do you imply that there is a language called STRING?

On an IBM Mainframe platform, this language does not sound familiar.
What were your Google (or any other Search Engine) results?

Hello,
Why do you believe there is a language called STRING?
Different languages support string, unstring, substring, etc, but these are not languages - merely features/functons of some languages.
If you better explain what you are talking about/looking for, someone may have a suggestion. |

SNOBOL (and it's descendant Icon) was a 'string manipulation language' created in the late 60's iirc. I don't know that it was ever ported to the mainframe though. And it was much higher level than assembler.... |

Hi,
Thanks a lot to all for your comments on my question. Finally I came to know that there is no language with name "String Assembler".
Can any one please tell me the difference between the below ENDEVOR types.
Type.............Type Description
ASM..............ASSEMBLER
ASMSTR........STRING ASSEMBLER - 2 STAGE |

for such issues You will not find any help on any public forum
the terms and parameters are installation dependent,
as already advised, ask Your peers or Your support |

Not until you provide more information. . . As has been posted, it is not a common industry term.
It does mean something to people in your organization, so they are the best (and maybe the only) source for the info you want.
WHo is the vendor for this "stringer assembler". What do the screens or jcl to run it look like? Do not post screenshots, but rather use copy/paste and the "Code" tag to post online screens.
Unless/until you provide something to work with, pretty much all we can do has been done. |
