Hi,

I came across an ISPF application in,
planetmvs.com/freeware/diver.html

I uploaded the ISPF application to a PDS member.
But I am unable to execute this program.
Could you please let me know how to execute this.

I tried through REXX exec statement but it did not work.

The purpose is to know how to execute ISPF applications and not to see a stick figure dive icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance.

I used standard FTP transfer. Could you please let me know if this is the actual transferred file or the format is incorrect.

the thing You uploaded is an IDTF format file ( XMIT/RECEIVE format )
it is a sequential file that acts as a container for other datasets
( standard PS,PDS,PDSE, with all the allowable record formats )
and must be processed,by the RECEIVE command under TSO

I tried this out.

I started by unzipping the linked file to a directory on my desktop. I got two files: DIVER.XMI and README.TXT.

Following the instructions given in the README.TXT file, I then setup an FTP to the host:

>ftp hostname
>logon
>password
>binary
>quote "site recfm=fb lrecl=80"
>put DIVER.XMI
>quit

which created the dataset 'USERID.DIVER.XMI' with a RECFM of FB and a LRECL of 80.

Then, per the instructions, I issued the TSO command:

TSO RECEIVE INDATASET(DIVER.XMI)

and when prompted I just pressed <Enter>. An output PDS was created by the name 'USERID.PACKAGE.DIVER.V10'. Then, per the instructions in the member $$README, I updated the member $REXX to change the value of the "dsn" variable to this library, i.e. 'USERID.PACKAGE.DIVER.V10'. Then, I just executed the exec:

TSO EX 'USERID.PACKAGE.DIVER.V10($REXX)' and everything from there worked just fine.

Actually we have a transfer macro kind of Visual basic module that does the FTP.
the only option available is the SCHEME which says whether its binary file or a text file. So I believe I will not be able to get the REXX code from the XMI file. icon_confused.gif

You are trying to drown Yourself in half inch of water
run the transfer in any way You want,
from the previous posts looked like You had already done it properly
and the XMI file was on the host

again transfer in binary and run the receive command as Kevin showed You

Way, way back when, we used to have a similar application that was, shall we say, a little more "x-rated". It was fun to see someone add it to their TSO logon process, and then have it run while someone in management was looking on.

I wonder if it's out on the CBT tape somewhere?
