Hello there,
Just out of curiosity and someone told me that, Programs using DB2 LUW doesn't have to go through the process of precompile, compile, LInk-edit and binding. Really........, Is it true.

I do not know who did it, but that' s plain wroooong
if You check the meaning of LUW You will find that it has nothing to to with
precompile,bind and all that
LUW stands for Logical Unit of WORK,
and defines the activity which takes place between two COMMIT's |

There is some update here. DB2 LUW is one of the new jargons that stands for DB2 for Linux Unix and Windows.
Sushanth, DB2 LUW does support Precompile, Bind link edit.
Regards,
Tarun. |

Enrico, DB2 LUW, iam refering to LINUX UNIX WINDOWS.
Tarun, 0.k. In DB2 LUW does support means, it also can precompile, bind link edit. What i want to know is, is it mandatory to do that process or (i don't know how to put it out, because i don't know) we can skip the process like just compile, run the program. Like THAT. Is it possible.

THIS IS A MAINFRAME FORUM, nothing to share with LUW
if You meant LINUX UNIX WINDOW why didn' t you say so in your original post
when You ask You should be clear in Your wording..
anyway whoever gave You that information,
at leas as far as DB2 express is concerned, is wrong
You might not alway bind explicitly because sometimes bind will take place at prep time
but prep/compile/link are still there
if You change database You do not prep/compile/link, but ... You bind
look at my signature and guess what PDF I am looking at
