Hi mcmillan,

I came to know about this training pack and found it very useful. Got couple of questions on this, where need your kind help to get it clarified:

1. What is this Trainer Kit. Does it having the softwares, using those we can built our own environment to work in the personal computer.
2. If so does it supports program compilation having DB2,CICS and Cobol.
3. What is this MVS Workbench Mainframe Simulator ?

Also I am very much curious about one question probably you could help me on this.

I always wanted to have an access to any mainframe where I can code my own program and could see the result. Unfortunately did not get a chance yet . Is it possible for an individual ( not as an organisation) to get access to a mainframe server through internet for study purpose.

Please let me know your feedbacks on these.

Have a great day ahead
Cheers
Deepak

1. No, Its a collection of learning materials.

2. No, never.

3. Its a simulator and no longer available in our CD pack as the product has been replaced with Microfoucs Mainframe Express.

Hi

Could you please provide some inputs on the following questions.

1. Is it a complex process to install & use this mainframe simulator?
2. Can we learn & master CICS (CICS-DB2 programs) using this simulator?

Thanks.

Hello,

I can't provide info about the cd's, but you can install Hercules on as many PCs as you want.

It probably is if you are not already quite fluent with the mainframe.

Quote:

Possibly CICS, but my guess is that there would be licensing issues with DB2. The free release(s) of MVS that run on Hercules will most likely not support a current version of DB2.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

At the top of the page is a link to "IBM Manuals".

Among them are the PL/I Language Reference and the PL/I Programming Guide.

Hi Mac,

I have already sent an Email to Rajesh from Sales to discuss this further..

However, I was curious to know - Why is the Website homepage (mainframesindia.com/) showing Version 3.0. I thought Version 6.0 was the latest. Please advise..

Thanks,
Karthik.
