You cannot browse/edit the vsam as flat file. You need tools like file-aid/file master etc..... Some shops use macros for browsing vsam from 3.4 option. |

I use DITTO VB in front of the VSAM to view the file.

You might ask your system support people what tool(s) can be used in your environment. |

Or more to the point, which tools have been PURCHASED for your environment. At the moment, only pay for tools can directly access VSAM datasets to allow you to view them. |

As suggested above,

DITTO is not used in all systems. On some systems where it is used, it is started from the menu. As menus are site specific, you would need to ask your system support people if it is available and if so, how to invoke it. |
