I've got some suggestions for re-arraning the Forums:
- Put VSAM and SMS together.
- Put DFSORT/ICETOOL into its own Forum.
- Make a new forum for SYNCSORT/SYNCTOOL.
- Get rid of the Job Postings and Interview Questions Forums.
- Is it really necessary to have three different COBOL Forums? Couldn't they be merged into a single COBOL Forum?

Put VSAM and SMS together.
Sound good.
Put DFSORT/ICETOOL into its own Forum.
Make a new forum for SYNCSORT/SYNCTOOL.
I would prefer all SORT and related TOOLS be in one forum.
Get rid of the Job Postings and Interview Questions Forums.
I would prefer to keep this forum, this forum is good help for job seekers.

I agree can be merged into a single forum. |

I scan every posting in the Job Postings forum, and then normally lock the posting. Very few, if any, that I see seem to be valid, especially since most don't use what would apepar to be a valid email address for the responses. Also, a lot seem to be the same posting, for the same skills for the same companies, sent over and over again every week.
Isn't there another Forum that would be better suited for these postings? |

| I have locked the Job Vacancies Forum, So users can't reply. Why don't we remove the invalid posts instead of removing a Forum? Expecting other members suggestions regarding this... |

I see there were earlier suggestions to either merge the SORT forums or create a SYNCSORT/TOOL forum.
I'd prefer a common SORT forum. I realize that solutions for one product may not apply to the other but that can be true even for different maintenance levels within the same product! Sharing a forum would simplify searches for common questions.
If sharing is not acceptable, a SYNCSORT forum would be better than putting SYNCSORT into JCL. |

I agree but it would be nice if the user's would determine which product they are using before posting their question. |

DFSORT/ICETOOL already has its own Forum and I would prefer we keep it that way. I provide DFSORT solutions in that Forum that work with DFSORT. On other boards where they have just a Sort Forum, all too often I provide a DFSORT solution that works with DFSORT only to be informed later that the customer has the other product and the solution "doesn't work". Then I have to tell them they're not using DFSORT, yada yada yada. That happens sometimes in the DFSORT Forum, but not as often.
FWIW, I do occasionally answer general sort questions in the JCL Forum. I wouldn't do that in a separate SYNCSORT Forum. |
