how to find out whether GDG base exits or not

hi friends,
i am creating the region refresh jobs.
for that i need to find out whether gdg base exists or not. doing !jck is sufficeient but i want to create the refresh jobs through rexx. So i need to find out whether any gdg base exists or not through rexx.
can any one help me to find out the way?
