Hi all,
This is my first mail to forum. Can we use java archtecture as a middle tier between IBM mainframe and web technology. To be very specific other than MQ-series is there any other technology which can acts as a middle tier between Mianframe and Web technology.
Thanks and regards,
Jwell |

Hi Jwell
As far as my knowledge goes, webMethods is currently used at a high rate for this kind of Mainframe to web technology integeration, though it is not meant only for mainframes. It can be used to integerate lot of other technology together.
To complete the answer -- webMethods is a Java architecture.

Hi Ramya,
Thanks for the reply. I was also pretty sure about that. But can you let me know how exactly java interface with mainframe. Like in MQ sereis it opens the ports and data transfer is done through TCP/IP. |

I'm not sure of your question...
webMethods will use adapters to integrate with other systems..For mainframes, we can use a "Mainframe adapter" which is a set of stored procedures to query the data from a system and reformat as a "WM document". This document will then be used by WM for further processing and if needed, will be sent to another system as per design.
Hope this helps..
