Hello,
Which is used depends on the environment and the requirements.
They are completely different and do not provide the same service(s).
Most of the systems i support have all 3 for different "things" - often compatability with some external user/client/provider. |

May I ask, what's the difference between "FTP" and "Netview FTP"?
It seems that Netview FTP is kind of enhanced version of FTP, Right? |

Hello,
Several vendors have an "FTP Product". Each will tell you that theirs is "enhanced".
For the most part, one must use whatever is the product (server or client) currently in use. |

MQ is a messaging facility not a file transfer tool. |

I was going to say the same thing. The FTP vs. NDM stuff has been addressed here before. Do a search for "NDM" and you should find one or more of those topics. Or, if you go to the Sterling Commerce web site, they should have white papers available for you to download with their assessment of the advantage of their product(s) over the other options. |

Another question,
Does NetView FTP and FTP needs to be installed seperately?
Now, my customer does not want to buy specail software for file transfer... |

FTP is a component of TCP/IP and is available when the TCP/IP stack is activated. Netview is a separate package that can be purchased and installed. |

Hello,
If not, how might they become available on the system. . .

If there is suitable software already installed, it would be used. If there is not, something will have to be selected and installed.
This topic has gone basically nowhere and will be locked if this continues. . .
