I was able to answer my own question.
You can control RMM retention issues by updating the VRSTABLE that is input to the UXTABLE assembly.
For example:
change VRSVAL=CATALOG to VRSVAL=D99000
Also using wildcards such as '-' is not needed, the RDS file input of:
DSN=TECH.DELME.CATFULL.GDG,LABEL=EXPDT='CATALOG'
Will create the following VRSTABLE entries:
EDGCVRSG DSN=TECH.DELME.CATFULL.GDG.G%%%%V%%,
RO=NO,
VRSVAL=CATALOG
EDGCVRSG DSN=TECH.DELME.CATFULL.GDG,
RO=NO,
VRSVAL=CATALOG |
