can anybody tell me the advantages of z/os over os/390?

Hello,
Basically the same as between os/390 and mvt (mvt is history now).
Someday os/390 will no longer be supported. At some point, new features will not be added to it. I cannot name them, but i'm fairly sure there are several features in z/os that are not in os/390. |

Would you believe 370/158s. . . . That's when you got the yellow card.
Before that we had several 360/40s. . . . whose gospel was the oft-referenced "green card". . . |

Yeah, 370/158 - remember the old ruse of getting the trainees to clean the back of the status display bulbs so that the electricty went faster and sped up the CPU.
I've still got my little system 370 handbook somewhere at home. It is still valid for the likes of abends and JCL references. |
