what is that You do not understand in the replies that You were given ?
if everything was dropped, the <sources> that You used were lost, if nada de nada is around
You will have to start from scratch(*) period, amen, rip
in the hope that even your neurons were not dropped

but as pointed out in the duplicate post on the other forum,
You will be much better off there!

I didn't face this situation.

Are you saying this is just a question you happen to have thought of so that you can learn a bit? No other practical application?

What if someone gives you an answer (and many have spent time on this). Do you have a way to test/validate the answer for your (non) situation? No? So any answer, other than the "don't do this/make sure you have something to recover from it you do" is wasted effort. If the situation arises, you'll have a number of untried solutions to a problem which will not be identical to that which you have (badly) stated.

Who learns anything that way?

Stay with the other forum for questions. Try to think of something more useful than "If I set fire to my own house, will I be able to put the fire out"?

Dear Bill,

Correct me If I am wrong.

If that situation occurs we should ready to solve it .

For that we should know the solution.

It's just way to learn new things.

I hope by this forum beginners (even for experts) will learn new things, new way to thing about db2.

I don't want to waste anyone's time.
whenever they have free time that time only they will reply to this.

More over I won't test this solution on production LPAR.

I will test the same on testing Lpar.

On this side of the forum we expect reasonable questions,
and You get answers according to our experience and best practices
You also should be aware that many of us started consulting ( most probably ) before You were born
and we have faced lots of different situations

and the common expectation is that the TS should agree on reasonable replies

You should be able to accept the replies You were given,
not stubbornly refute them because they were not those You expected

if You do not do that the chances of getting help are pretty slim
( not just here, but on any forum )
did You care to read the suggestions on hoe to ask good questions,
seems not

I strongly recommend You to do so before asking further questions or keep commenting on the current ones

as already suggested beginners should hang around the <other> forum,
were people who answer will certainly more prone to explain the basics

a couple more points..

in general there are not bad/stupid questions

there are bad/stupid ways of asking/wording questions
and there is the right/wrong place where ask for

and a distinction should be made between HELP forum and GENERAL forums

this forum is more aimed at HELP , the other forum will <tolerate>a broader range of questions

for example ...
what is a COBOL copybook will certainly be bad mouthed OTSOF ,
will get a reply on the other forum
( bad/stupid question here, inline with the forum objective/mission there )

I got the message XYZ... what should I do ...
I did that and it did not work, help me please
will justify some flames

also You should distinguish between
requests for help and requests for info, clarifications
a request for help expects a real situation and people replying will ask lost of clarification and real data

on the other side info, clarifications are more loose on style and content

icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif

we have been very patient until now icon_biggrin.gif

please please explain
what kind of solution do You want...

I' ll resume things once for all

case 1)
You lost/dropped the table the but the <sources> are available ( primary/backup )
just rerun the proper <sources> ( primary or after a restore )

case 2)
You lost all the <sources> ( no backup available )
DB2 is <available> table not dropped
Query the catalog tables to find out the definitions to rebuild the sources
You can do it automatically with a few rexx scripts
BTDTGTTS ( been there done that got the t shirt )

things get murky now
case 3)
You lost all the <sources> ( no backup available )
You do not have a proper DB2 <backup> YOU ARE FUCKED icon_biggrin.gif

case 4)
You lost all the <sources> ( no backup available )
keep <restore>ing at least the DB2 catalog tables
keep searching and if found the <thing> proceed as in case 2

case 4a)
You went thru all the DB2 backups and the <thing> is not there
see case 3

nuff said, time to lock the topic

as i said ... we have been very patient up to now

and there are idiots/morons around here who flame me for my rudeness and unwillingness to help icon_cool.gif

do You realize i hope the importance of posting properly ..
this post is an example of lots of patience used by people answering
and too much stubborness, unwillingness to understand on the side of the TS (You)

the issue should have been cleared after 2/4 posts not after 35 icon_evil.gif
