What exactaly batch processing means in mainframe ?

It means that no interaction is made with the user, as opposed to online or foreground, where the user responds using input devices.

Usually, it means submitting jobs to perform some operations using programs/utilities. In most shops, you perform daily batch activities (mainly at night) to process large amount of data with no user intervention.
