yes chvj123, you can concatenate them. But the order must be, descending order of record length. |

HI,
For concatenation of dataset DCB parameter should be same( Logical record length should be same). All data sets concatenated must be of the same type . If I am wrong pls correct me .

Your are partially correct nutan. All the datasets need to be of same data type(DSORG should be same). But as I have said before, they can have different logical record lengths. The only constraint is that the dataset with the largest record length must be given first. |

HI,
Thanks for correcting me Senthils. It means,if we are concatenating the first data set size should be greater than remaining dataset size .

YOU CAN CONCATENATE DATASETS WITH DIFF LOGOCAL RECORD LENGTH
BUT THEY SHOULD BE ARRANGED IN DECENDING ORDER OF THIR BLOCKSIZE
THERE IS NO LIMIT FOR CONCATENATING PS FILES AND MEMBER OF PDS.
BUT YOU CAN ONLY CONCATENATE 114 PARTITIONED DATA SETS.
...........................AS MENTION IN JCL BIBLE.
THANK YOU

Does anyone have a working example of where this situation actually works? I am not aware of any common utility (IEBGENER, SORT, or IDCAMS) that would support this situation. |
