Hello everyone..I just joined.

Just out of curiousity, what do the law enforcement or dispatchers use to lookup or check drivers license numbers, DMV records, and such? For example, if I gave my DL # for them to enter into their systems..what Mainframe application is used to query that information back to the dispatcher? I'm just interested on how our information is handled and by what application? Are these handled by Mainframes running LINUX and DB2, CICS, etc?

Every single personal information used by Government are stored on what Mainframe application?

Thanks.

Mostly IMS server is used to use the global storage of data...

WOW!!!

As my hobby...I listen to my police scanner and when dispatchers enter someones Drivers License number...they get criminal backrounds, records, driving records, warrants, and such...So I figured why not ask what application they use to store or query that specific data....

Thats very interesting...

Also, one other question I would like to ask. Do they use SUSE LINUX for Mainframes when storing those information? Because I heard that SUSE is mostly used on the Mainframes now days.

I hope this is clear on what Im trying to ask here...

For example: Suppose the police gives my Drivers License number for the dispatchers to lookup information about me...

All I wish to know is from what Mainframe server or application do they obtain that information about my records from?

Also, what operating system does this run on? SUSE LINUX or UNIX?

it depends on the government which suggess... since it is has more security constraints they may use... but there is no surity that only they use this OS.. fine.. then as per ur query the info may be sent to IMS server they have and from that immediate data can b replaced on their desk...
