Hi,

Can we use field names in FILEAID batch JCL in COPY function instead of giving the start position and length?

I have a very huge file and its copybook layout with hundreds of fields. I frequently need to run an extract on this file to give specific values to specific fields and then extract specific fields based on the business users needs. I have done this in foreground but need to see if we can do the same function in a batch JCL where I can provide the copybook library and the layout name and extract the details by using the field names.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am not sure of FILEAID but guess you can not create a report with more than 132 bytes but certainly you can do with SORT but you will have to play with offsets or SAS.

Have you read the manual to see what is possible with batch File Aid?
