DFSORT control statements in any order ?

Can DFSORT control statements be in any order?
Can there be only one SORT/MERGE/COPY primary task per job step?
The manual implies yes to both, but I can't find it specifically.

Yes, they can be written in any order. They will always be executed in the order DFSORT wants, however they are written.

You can have SORT, MERGE and COPY present in the same set of Control Cards, in any number and combination. Only the first one will be processed.
