hi,
what is SWITCH IN COBOL?

I WANT TO CHANGE THE LENGTH OF THE KEY FIELD IN VSAM FILE HOW DO YOU DO?

WHAT DOES KEEP PARAMETER DO IN JCL?

Hi,

SWITCH is also called UPSI SWITCH is a way of passing parameter thru the JCL to programs. This is very old method of passing parameters.


If you want to change the length of the VSAM file, you need to DELETE / DEFINE with new values. Before that dont forget to take a backup on a sequential file icon_wink.gif

As the name keyword 'KEEP' says it will Keep the dataset. icon_eek.gif
