Hi,

I read from z/OS V2.1 manuals and Share presentations that it is now possible to to have instream data variables substituted.

As I understand it, the new EXPORT JCL statement can specify a SYMLIST (without &), where a following SET statement would apply the name and it would be available to the the JOB as a symbol to be substituted.

I'm can see how this can work with SYSIN, where a variable can be specified in a DEFINE CLUSTER (NAME(&DSN)...etc but I cannot find if the same process would work in a SYSLIN instream data. We would like to pass variables to LINK EDIT/BINDER instream data. The IDENTIFY parameter would be a great place to pass data such as Userid, Date and Time, so we can check who last linked a module.

Has anyone installed z/OS V2.1 and played/tested this?

Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated
