Hello All,

Does DB2 explain take into account the amount of Data present in Tables?

If I have less data in my test region compared to the production enviorment, will the explains against each enviorment produce different results ?

Thanks,
Sabari Girish

Yes. That's why you hear the suggestion to get the latest RUNSTATS so often.

It you have the knowledge and the necessary authority the catalog stats can be manipulated to simulate, in a test environment catalog, what the production table will look like after it is populated. This authority is probably restricted to your local DBA team.
