Hi,
Can you please tell me how I can scroll up and down when viewing results of an IMS command on the 3270 screen?
When I give the command, /DIS TRAN RTS* on the screen, I can view only a certain number of records on the screen. Can you please tell me how I can scroll up and down the query results? PF7 and PF8 are not working on this command.
Thanks

I don't think you can scroll. What you are seeing is the first screen full of data from the response. You can continue reading it using PA1, which on my Rumba emulator maps to Ctrl+F1.
As a lark, I once wrote an IMS Connect client that sends commands and puts results in a scrollable box using Delphi. That was handy for a few weeks when I needed it. |

Another option, if you have it set up in your shop, is the IMS SPOC ISPF interface. |

Thanks a lot Ed. PA1 works perfectly for me. PA1 translates to Alt+ Insert in my Passport emulator
Thanks

Don says: "if you have it set up", but this is such an improvement over the traditional IMS operator console that you would want to set up the IMS SPOC just for this purpose.
See the article about the 'IMSplex Console' in the IMS Newsletter: publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/dzichelp/v2r2/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.imsnews.doc%2Fnewsletter.htm and select vol 902.
The article describes how you can use the IMS SPOC for ISPF to display console messages and issue IMS operator commands. What is cool is that you can use it in real time to see current messages or you can select a time interval, for example, last night at 21:00-24:00 and see those messages.
The operational messages are stored outside of IMS, so IMS does not need to be up to see the console messages that were issued just before a crash. |
