FDR storage management suite is used completely in our environment. Businees would like to stop using the FDR INSTANT only. I am not sure about this decision but I doubt it could be purely based on cost.
They would like to replace the FDR INSTANT with standard IBM Flash copy feature and there commands. Our disks are certified with IBM FlashCopy feature to use it. I know that the FDR INSTANT uses this feature for the processing.
I would like to know how the pure IBM flash copy (with out FDRINSTANT) can be used with FDR COPY/DUMP to process.
Apologize, if my questionn is too childish and not elaborate. I am new to the IBM S/W and hardware. I hope that I can get some help from here. Thanks in advance. |

If not cost, what reason does "business" have to change?
The technical management might have some reason(s), but i would not think the business people would even be aware. |

The best choice would be to talk to FDR who will have experience in doing this at many other sites.
I have used FLASHCOPY, but only with ADRDSSU (Dfdss) |
