Hi,

I am trying to compare VSAM(RRDS) files using Fileaid JCL but it's throwing the return code of RC08. The output comapre dataset which got created is showing the below error message:

U329-READ AHEAD COUNT LIMIT WAS EXCEEDED BEFORE A MATCH WAS FOUND

Otherwise this output compare dataset is also showing the compare statistics between the 2 VSAM files of matching and mis matching records.

The FILEAID compare Parmlib I am using is :
$$DD01 COMPARE

Can you please guide to a solution to get RC =0?
Please let me know if any further info is required.
Appreciate your quick help.

Thank You!

You have a record on one of the files, and it has not matched on the second file, and FILE-AID has then searched forward as far as you have told it to find a match for that record, and failed to find one.

The default read ahead count is 100, it is possible to set it to 999 (see the manual). I dont think that will be of much help, cause your rrds datasets are not sorted and then what happens is what Mr. Woodger said.
