Since a storage group is a set of DASD, tape, and mountaable optical devices, the best way is to look at what is allocated on each volume. AFAIK, there is no system tool to get the data sets in a storage group. ISMF will list the volumes in the storage group but not the data sets.

Normally in any volume, if I want to see the space usage percentage, I can see using ISPF 3.4

Then option V (VTOC information) and putting the volume name in the volume.. option. and keeping the dataset name as blank

Now is there anyway to see the list of datasets on that same volume ?

Thanks

On the ISPF 3.4 panel, do you see where it says blank to display the data set list? Have you tried using a blank instead of a V and the volume serial, with blanks in the data set name field?

Hi,

if you have FILEAID or FILEMGR you should be able to get a list of datasets on a volume.

If not you can use IEHLIST.

Once you have the list, you can now use LISTDSI to obtain the storage group name.

Depends what tools you have available, and what sort of information you need about the datasets listed. Your Storage team should be able to tell you what tools are available and probably have something set up that you can use.

Some options you may have are as follows. The first 3 are native IBM products so should be available:

1) ISMF option 1 - Dataset List - this can give you the list for a whole storgrp but is quite slow. You can run it in Batch using Naviquest though.

2) DFDSS (ADRDSSU) DUMP specifying the Storgrp parameter, and with PARM='TYPRUN=NORUN' on the exec. This only gives name, not other information.

3) IDCAMS DCOLLECT STORGRP

4) FDREPORT if you have FDR
