this is a help forum... not a do it for me one
since You asked a <YES/NO> question You received a <YES/NO> reply ..
technically correct, according to the specifications.... but completely useless
to make the most out of the questions You ask
and forecast the unpleasant comments You might receive
I strongly suggest to read and meditate on
how to ask questions the smart way
here catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
or .. for a more PC language
here support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 |

Absolutely no idea why this was posted in the DFSORT forum if a program is required.
Perhaps it would be much better if you detailed exactly what it is that you need to know about DFSORT and what your questions are, and maybe Frank or Kolusu will have a much better understanding of what and why you are asking and better placed to answer. |

Hello,
Many organizations have processes in place that select various SMF data and put it into fixed length data that is easier for most people to use (rather than the raw SMF data). Suggest you ask your tech support if something like this is already available.
Do you have permission to read the raw SMF data? This is restricted in many organizations. . . Also, the volume is Huge even if you are able to read the full content. |

If you have to ask this question, then you most likely don't have the knowledge required to do the analysis.
If you're looking for general help with DFSORT tuning, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT Tuning Guide" which you can find at:
www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=114&uid=isg3T7000080
If you have specific tuning questions, you can send a note with details to dfsort@us.ibm.com (the DFSORT hotline). |
