The Free Dictionary claims it is "Data Facility Sort", but I don't know how authoritative that is. |

Yes, it's Data Facility Sort. The DF came from DFSMS since the products are "related". |

Synchronized sorting. . .?
40 years ago Syncsort took a different approach to the literature of the day for the sorting algorithm and the way i/o was performed.
For actual details, Syncsort would be the place to ask as much is still proprietary.

"Default" sort ... I wonder where they got that from; it's not even close. Just proves that you can't believe everything you read on the web. |

Cute. Sounded familiar, but had to look it up.
Julius Caesar (I, ii, 140-141)
Quote: |
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings." |
Reminds me of "denial is a river in Egypt". |

Or when my grandfather from downtown Germany was challenged at Ellis island to use defeat, defense, and detail in the same sentence.
He replied "De feet of the de dog vent over de fence before de tail". . .
Ok, it wasn't Pop. . .
