Do you have a way ?

Please have a look at the previous post. ibmmainframes.com/about36544.html

Or else, you have to install a third party system

Symbolic parameters are part of JCL. Control cards are not JCL -- they are read by the program being executed to provide direction as to what action(s) to take. Since control cards are NOT JCL, why on earth would you think symbolic parameters that ONLY are used with JCL should apply to control cards?

control cards are either contained within DS's referenced by the dd statement (SYSIN usually),
or are part of instream datasets.

so it has more to do with the fact that symbolics contained in instream datasets (or datasets/pds members) are not interpreted by the jcl interpreter when a job is submitted to jes.

the fact that this topic has to do with control cards is has nothing to do with the reason.

Sunil,

FYI, with DFSORT:

You can use system symbols (e.g. &JOBNAME) in control statements. See:

publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ICE1CA50/8.4.2?DT=20100630155256

You can also use SET and PROC symbols in control statements. See:

www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=114&uid=isg3T7000242
