Hi,
I need to extract the information from CA-7. There is one system and we want to extract all the job information of that system and put into a dataset. Since there are lot of jobs, I am trying to take the dump through a job.
I am using SASSBSTR program and in the SYSIN i am providing the input as:
LRLOG,JOB=*
but it is not working.
There is a DD name called UCC7CMDS. I dont know what does this dataset contain.
Can anyone help me in getting the needed information and put it into a dataset.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi
As per my knowledge we can't extract any information from the CA-7. You can only view the details about the job like dependencies, scheduling etc etc .
Thanks |

You have to contact your site support group for this information.
or you can shoot in the dark by the below method,
1 .Go to split screen mode on ISPF(F2-split),
2. on one screen go to CA7 menu,
3. on the other screen(F9-swap) from ISPF main menu issue the command TSO ISRDDN.
4. the ISRDDN command would bring up the datasets that are currently allocated to your ID, look through those and check if there are any datasets which look like ABCDE.CA7.R11M1SP3.CAILOAD
5. The UCC7CMDS would probably be ABCDE.CA7.*.COMMDS
However I think you would need Edit access to COMMDS dataset to make SASSBSTR work for you, again you have to contact your site support group for access. It would be better just to ask your SS directly..

One strange thing about SASSBSTR utility is.., even if we mention the UCC7CMDS dd name dataset in DISP=SHR mode, it will still try to edit the UCC7CMDS dataset, maybe its possessed or something .. idk.. |

That is very useful - you are posting because you have problem. It helps to identify the problem to us rather than just letting us guess. So, what is/are the error message/s? |

UCC7CMDS points to the communications data set. From the CA-7 Systems Programmer Guide manual:
Quote: |
3.2.5.3 Communications Data Set
This data set is used as a collection and transfer point for CA-7 data and control information. In single and multiple CPU configurations, the data set provides an area for the Independent Communications Manager (ICOM) to store SMF and trailer data. |

ok this explains the paranormal activity of SASSBSTR even with DISP=SHR. |
