Hi,
I need to test a CICS screen for load(multiple users accessing the screen at the same time). Could you please suggest me some tools/methods to achieve simultaneously logins and perform some basic operations in the CICS screen? Also how do i measure the performance improvement/degradation by this load testing?
Thanks,
Ganesh |

Compuware has a product called QAHiperstation that allows recording of CICS transactions in a production region into a file with playback in a test region. If this product is installed at your site, I'd look at using it first. This product used to be called Playback but was renamed a few years ago. |

Thanks Robert,
What about HP Loadrunner scripting for testing CICS screen. Any thoughts on this?
I am just making a list of feasible tools which we can explore more on load testing a CICS screens.

No experience of that product. Does it even run on the mainframe? A quick Google search did not bring up anything obvious.
Certainly Playback has been around for a long time and is capable of increasing the load on a CICS system.

Omegamon/CICS or TMON would be useful. |

I've never heard of -- much less used -- HP Loadrunner so I cannot talk to the product and its use. |

Came across Loadrunner some years ago. IFIRC, it executed on a distributed platform and communicated over the network using virtual terminals.

Thanks,
We have TMON in our site. But we find it hard to decode the TMON report, as we are not able to get the function key pressed on the CICS screen in the TMON report. Is there any way we could do this mapping? Currently we manually make a note of key pressed and the time we pressed the keep and refer the report and the later.
Appreciate your help
Thanks,
