Recently the DBA team had suggested us add WITH UR option in all of the select queries in certain CICS modules. This was part of the performance improvement measures. But suprisingly after that the overall performance of the system degraded. It was observed that for certain modules the Locking and DB2 wait time was increased and for certain modules DB2 serv wait time was increased.

Can anybody suggest if the "WITH UR" change is root cause for this performance degradation?

Hello,

If the goal is to ensure that queries are "read only" (which could reduce locking) suggest "FOR READ ONLY" be used in the queries. . .

Is this the only change that was done to the system? There could have been other changes done by the DBA which you might not be aware of....

If you could avoid locked data you can try SKIP LOCKED DATA. It is permissible only with CS/RS.
