If your shop is licensed to use CA1, you must also be having documents from them. Their documents are covered under Copy-Right act and will not be available for free. So, suggest you look in the CA1-Manual from CA instead of google. |

I have the manuals the differnece is not clear ...
In an active state, all BrightStor CA-1 batch and online facilities are fully
functional. The BrightStor CA-1 OSI is installed and tape activity is tracked.
In a batch active state, all BrightStor CA-1 batch and online facilities are
fully functional. No realtime tape activity is tracked. The OSI is restored if it
is currently installed.
What is this "No realtime tape activity is tracked. The OSI is restored if it
is currently installed. " |

"No realtime tape activity is tracked" means what is says. If you mount an output volume, CA-1 will not confirm the volume is scratch. Likewise, newly created volumes are not recorded in the TMC.
The Operating System Intercepts (OSI) are the "hooks" that CA-1 places into the system code to get control during tape mounts. Restoring these hooks means turning the intercepts off while CA-1 is batch active. |
