I have to calculate the size of dsn present on the tape ..
I am using this formula
BLKCNT * BLKSIZE = (bytes)
But wot if BLKSIZE is = 0
For few of the tapes BLKSIZE is zero .. |

usually You can get the answer by querying the tape management system
the best people to ask would be Your storage support group |

It would be intresting to know, how did you get the value of BLKSIZE? |

The BLKSIZE=0 should only be carried over to the DCB attributes if the file has not been written to. Therefor BLKSIZE=0 is valid because there isn't any data. |

Above is info from CA1...Now U can see BLKSIZ = 0
data is present cos it spans 4 tapes ...SO the tape contain data |
