I know that you can specify the database DSN in the JCL, but is there a way to use the same dynamic allocation "feature" of IMS DBB/BMP?
I think there might be a parm in DFSRRC00...but finding details of those parms (their meaning) is getting frustrating! |

Dynamic Allocation in IMS is implemented through the DFSMDA macro. See IMS System Definition Reference manual.
Make sure your //DFSVSAMP DD dataset does not specify NODYNALLOC |

I found the Parm info, thanks for the link.
As for dynamic allocation,,, ARG, I should have know that NODYNAM was specified (I cannot imagine why anyone would specify that!).
Once I removed that from the DFSVSAMP pool def all was well.
IMS is like riding a bicycle, once you do it, it appears you never (completely) forget it! Even though the last time I worked with IMS was over 20 yrs ago!
Thanks to all the repliers!
