How can we ping a unix server from mainframe(to check whether the connection is enabled between the two)..
is there any command like
ping servername
as how we do from windows |

Go to Start--> 6 option. Then type PING <Server Name> |

Hello,
A successful "ping" has nothing to do with having a connection. . .
There are many ip addresses that can be pinged but cannot be connected to.
There are also servers that will not acknowledge a ping. . .
So, depending on what you actually need, ping may or may not provide what you are looking for. |
