mvs ftp client

hello

i am a newbie to mainframe(os390 mvs), i can connect to mainframe from unix,and windows by FTP protocol. that means the mainframe work as ftp server.

now i wonder how can i ftp to unix by ftp protocol from mainframe? that means the mainframe works as ftp client?

Yes, that is exactly right. The mainframe becomes the FTP client and the Unix system becomes the FTP server.

you maybe can't understand me, i just want to know how can i ftp to unix ftp server from mvs box.

that is the operation step or commands needed in MVS.

FTP is FTP. It's all the same. If you've already used it in Windows and Unix, then you already know how. Just remember that you are on an EBCDIC machine and that you are transferring data to an ASCII (typically BINARY) machine.

First, you can start by reviewing the help information for FTP by typing TSO HELP FTP in your TSO session.

Next, you might want to review the sections on FTP (Chapters 3, 4 and 5) from the IP User's Guide and Command:
