Amen, not to disappoint you but if you are new to IMS, you should not be doing this work - however, have you contacted the IMS DBA at your shop, to start with?

DBD is DATABASE DESCRIPTION. It is to define segements, key fields and access methods used for an IMS Database.

I've not heard about DYNS when talking about IMS, however this is what I found:The IMS procedure, the DBC procedure, and the DCC procedure no longer require DD statements for MODBLKS data sets (MODBLKSA and MODBLKSB) if online change for MODBLKS is disabled. Online change for MODBLKS is disabled by defining MODBLKS=DYN in the DFSCGxxx member or in the CSL section of the DFSDFxxx member. But the way, you have posed your question it does not look like if you are really looking for, what I've linked to above text.

Thanks Anuj for your prompt response.

Actually i need to remove certain IMS databases from the system. So i was just thinking about what all things i should consider before i start working on this.

In short i need to do impact analysis of the above requirement.

For that I have shortlisted some of the pgms and PSB's which uses these databases. Can you please tell me if i am missing out on any other factor which needs to be considered while working on this.

Kind Regards,
Shweta

As Anuj said, one important factor is, Did you contact your DBAs for doing this? cos, this process should have them involved.

Utility "FABNRVRS" described in IBM IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS
is a very handy tool to see all the links between DBD, PSB, PCB and ACB.

Hello all!

Thanks for your reponse . Will be engaging DBA team for this.
Before going to them even i was required to do some initial impact analysis so that's why was confirming everything.
